Palau’s economy consists primarily of tourism, subsistence agriculture and fishing. The government is the largest employer, relying heavily on U.S. financial assistance. Business and tourist arrivals numbered some 50,000. Long-term prospects for the key tourist sector have been greatly bolstered by the expansion of air travel in the Pacific, the rising prosperity of leading East Asian countries and the willingness of foreigners to finance infrastructure development.
Founded by the former President of Palau, Mr. Johnson Toribiong, Palau Nature Works, Inc. signed an M.O.U. with Chaiyi Farmers Association to provide experienced farmers from Taiwan to Palau to train the workers.
The project includes setting up a touristic Renewable Energy System, not only to provide clean power but also to attract tourists to visit the facility. PNW will also construct greenhouses equipped with rain water pick up system; a man-made lake will be set up at the site to stabilize the environment; and a deep water well for an irrigation system. All those projects aim to put government produced public power and water system as a back-up, and use the Renewable Energy System generated power and water as priority.

旅遊業是帛琉經濟的支柱，每年約有共50,000外國人來經商和觀光，除此之外還依靠農業和漁業。政府是本國最主要的僱主，但國家經濟很大程度上依賴美國的經濟援助。帛琉的旅遊市場正在傾向於吸引更多來自東亞的遊客，並希望外國投資可以幫助他們興建更完備的基礎設施。
有鑑於此，帛琉前總統Johnson Toribiong成立了Palau Nature Works(PNW)公司，並與嘉義農會簽訂合作意向書，希望藉由台灣有經驗的農民來為帛琉當地的人民提供教育訓練。另外也由於帛琉時常有電力不穩定的情形發生，因此PNW將建立一個可再生能源系統， 該系統不僅可以提供電力，主體外觀設計還可以當作吸引遊客參觀的陸上設施。PNW也將建造配有雨水收集系統的溫室，並設立一個可以達到水循環功用的人工湖，以及挖取一個當作灌溉系統使用的深水井。這些專案皆本於乾淨能源與水的優先利用，而帛琉政府生產的公共電力和供水系統則作為該設施可再生能源系統的後備。
